Settled in the side of the hill with a view that stretches south for miles, Beechenhill Farm is a wonderful place to spend a holiday. Whether a family looking for a getaway into nature, a couple wanting a peaceful romantic retreat or a group of friends getting together to walk, talk and play games, our place is just right.
Hot tub
Our Swedish style wood fired hot tub with its secret cave, hidden at the bottom of the English country garden, and Swedish style barrel sauna with outdoor rainfall shower (either of which can be booked before your stay at extra cost – depending on availability) can make your holiday even more special.
Things to do
Beechenhill is in the heart of the beautiful White Peak, within walking distance from the spectacular Dovedale Gorge and above the pretty village of Ilam. There are hundreds of things to do in the area from active days out walking, cycling, horse riding or climbing, to wandering round one of the many stunning historic houses or gardens, to visiting the unique attractions particular to the Peak District.
Local food
There are lots of amazing places to eat locally and, to help you have an even better holiday, you can order local food to be delivered straight to your cottage.
Accessibility
Our cottage for all, accessible for everyone including wheelchair users, sleeps six. The Cottage by the Pond is rated NAS M3a accessible for full time wheelchair users who need the help of a carer. We have lots of suggestions for accessible things to do in the area and plenty of equipment available on request to make your stay more comfortable.
Environment
Caring about our environment is central to what we do here, but we hope to do it with a light touch, so it enhances your stay and that everything you experience makes you more comfortable. The biomass wood pellet boiler heats all our water so that the cottages are cosy for you. The real log fires in the cottages are lit with waste wood kindling and locally sourced coppiced logs. The hot tub and sauna both use waste wood and recycled wood briquettes to get warm and toasty. We have solar panels hidden on the roofs of the farm buildings which provide nearly half of our electricity and we have two electric car charging points.
